How to use the French press:
1. Step 1: Preparation
Remove the lid with the plunger and add the desired amount of freshly ground coffee to the glass or stainless steel container. A typical ratio for a strong coffee is 1 gram of ground coffee per 15 ml of water – adjust to your taste. Spread the coffee evenly to ensure optimal extraction.
2. Step 2: Boil the water and bloom
Bring fresh water to the boil and then let it cool for about 30 seconds until it reaches about 90-96°C. Then pour a small amount of water into the French press, just enough to cover the coffee – this is called blooming. Let the coffee bloom for about 30 seconds so the gases escape and the full flavour is released. Then slowly pour in the rest of the water in a circular motion until you reach the desired amount.
3. Step 3: Let the coffee steep.
Put the lid with the plunger on the French press without pushing the plunger down. Let the coffee steep for about 4 minutes. This time allows the flavours and oils of the coffee to be fully extracted and a rich aroma to develop.
4. Step 4: Press
Push the plunger down slowly and evenly. Take care not to press too fast for an even result. Pressing slowly helps avoid bitterness and gets the best flavour.
5. Step 5: Serve and enjoy
Make sure the spout in the lid is lined up correctly. Pour the coffee into your cup and enjoy it straight away to experience the freshly brewed flavours to the full. The double-walled construction of the BPlanet French press keeps your coffee warm for longer for pure coffee enjoyment.
Cleaning note:
After use, take the French press apart and remove the coffee grounds. All parts can simply be rinsed under warm water or cleaned in the dishwasher, so your French press is always ready to use and hygienic.
